Beauty Haul #8, the Spring Edition - March

It's true, Spring is finally upon us! The days are getting longer, the sun peeks from behind the clouds more often and I can finally wear my leather jacket on a day out shopping rather than the warm coat I was using during the coldest months. March was a month of traveling, which means my Beauty Haul budget was relatively small, but that didn't stop me from treating myself.

Let's start with the Maybelline offer I found at Boots. 3 for 2 always sounds like music to my ears, especially when I'm after my favourite mascara of all times (so far), the Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express. The last year I've been using the 100% Black one rather than the original one because not only do I get the same voluminous effect I love on my lashes but also because of the glossy black result. The brush is one of the best out there when it comes to bristles, plus it's budget friendly and easy to remove.

At the time of the offer Maybelline had released their newest addition to their mascara range, the Falsies Push Up Drama. After careful inspection of the silicone wand it comes with I decided to pick it up. I do wish I knew not to do that now. Generally this mascara has received mixed reviews, some praising it and some hating it. Unfortunately I've joined the latter camp. It did nothing for my lashes, was really clumpy and started flaking after about an hour I had it on. I do believe it works for certain people and understand how one man's trash is another man's treasure, so after using it twice I gave it away to a friend who actually quite enjoys it.

Now I've read many a blogger's post saying how the Maybelline 24Hr Color Tattoo Creamy Eyeshadows are the best alternatives to MAC's Paint Pots when you're shopping on the high street and I had a free product to get because of the 3 for 2 offer, so I picked one up to give it a whirl. I chose the shade Creamy Beige from their Mattes collection and I have to say I'm super impressed with it. Not only it's the easiest thing to apply, it can also be used as a great eyeshadow base aaaand the colour is such a lovely nude you can use on an every day basis.

I've always been on the lookout for some good brushes on the high street and not so long ago I bumped into Wilko Premium range. At the beginning I was skeptical but it was hard to say no to the soft bristles, the copper ferrule and the comfortable handle. I'll share more of my thoughts about them in another post but for now let's just say they've added a stippling brush to the range which I had to try out.

Last beauty product is a small pack of wipes I wanted to keep in my handbag when traveling. I knew my skin would be dehydrated and very tired after all the hours I would be flying/riding the bus but I was very conscious of the liquid limitation I had by only carrying hand luggage. Wipes were the best solution to my problem. There was a great variety to choose from but I went for the Yes To Blueberries Age Refresh Cleansing Facial Wipes. I love the fact that they're 96% natural, like the rest of the Yes To products (their Yes To Cucumbers Face Mask is an absolute gem). These ones are enriched with organic blueberries, lemon peel and apple for a moisturizing cleanse. There is a zingy lemon smell that some people may not like but to me that was an added bonus.

There will be another post in a few days time with all the goodies I brought back from Ireland with me which I didn't include in the haul, so stay tuned if you want to see my duty free beauties! Also, what's your favourite beauty product you bought this month?

Until next time,

Dora
