Home Sweet Home Haul

Living in a rental house that doesn't have enough room for me to express my creativity is really hard. I struggle every day to find storage solutions while putting my own mark at the place, so whenever the opportunity arises for a small change I take it and run. Small additions can make a house turn into "Home Sweet Home", which is exactly why a home haul was bound to happen. And it did.

The first thing that I bought (remember my wish list from Christmas?) was the cream and rose gold Crosley record player from Urban Outfitters. I've been wanting that baby for a very long time and when my birthday came and gone I decided to gift it to myself. I'm a big fan of vinyl records, after all they were still around when I was growing up - unfortunately at the end of their era. My mother had a collection of 45s and she would quite so often mention to me of the days she was a teenager and had a mini portable record player box she would use to listen to music. My love for the 60s-70s music and my mum's fond memories of the time were the reason I craved for a record player so much. And now I have one!

During my visit to Urban Outfitters something else caught my eye. A rose gold skull money box? I have a slight obsession with skulls and to have one in the same colour as the record player seemed like the perfect idea. After all, I had a shelf to decorate!

Next came the canvas print. Being in a country that lives for tea it's almost impossible to find items that mention coffee, so imagine my joy when, after a quick stroll in Primark, I bumped into this! "Wake up and smell the coffee" makes me reminisce of lazy Sunday mornings, when I would take a few extra hours in bed only to be awaken by the sounds of a busy kitchen and the smell of breakfast and coffee. A great memory trigger plus coffee-related canvas print? Yes, it had to be mine!

I do have a bad tendency of walking in stores and display shop a hell of a lot, most of the times it so happens that I find small hidden treasures. That's how I got the little rose gold artificial succulent pot from NewLook and the tea light stand from Tiger (which originally was navy blue but I spray painted it to match the rest of the items).

It may not seem like a lot to you, but to me those few items transformed my little office corner into a more welcoming space to sit and work, so I'm over the moon. I do plan in the future to change it even further - hopefully with new furniture, I will keep you updated. Here's how it looks now.

What do you think? Do you have any suggestions as to shops I should be checking out or items you think would match/I'd be interested? Please let me know, I'm always out and about trying to find new places to browse!

Until next time,

Dora
