Birchbox December 2015

This time of the year holds a special place in my heart, not only because my birthday is not that far away but also because of the parties, the meetings with friends, the receiving of gifts and cards and generally the jolly atmosphere. Birchbox joined the festivities with the most fashionable way, a clutch bag full of beauty!

Let's start with the star of the month which undeniably is the clutch bag! Dark green felt, silver glitter and black leather is definitely a very festive combination, fits perfectly with my dress and wet leather looking leggings and is easy to store when the season's over as it barely takes any space when closed. I'm quite impressed actually, I would definitely like to see more Birchboxes like "this" happening again during the year.

"All that Glimmers" is the name of the December Birchbox and it comes loaded with goodies. Six samples and a lifestyle item not only made my day, they made my whole week!

  • Benefit Puff Off! and They're Real Push Up Liner Duo: I don't know about you but I'm very picky when it comes to Benefit products. I love HooLA, Dandelion, even the Porefessional primer but I had been disappointed with their mascaras. I'm really happy I received these two, because I can now say I really like the idea behind the liner, it actually did make the application lots easier. Puff off didn't do that much, but then again I need something really strong to depuff my eyes.

  • Jelly Pong Pong Glow Getter Luminizer Gel: I'm the worst person to talk of highlighters and luminising products since I avoid them like the plague. I'm shiny on my own as it is, no need for extras, so I can't really tell you much about this product besides that I'll be giving it away to a friend, sorry. Full size product though.

  • Ciaté London Mini Paint Pot in "Mineral Love": Ciaté is one of the nail polish brands I adore, they're generally long-lasting and apply extremely easily. I can't say I love this mini though, pink glitter is definitely NOT my choice of polish for the holidays. Or ever! Another one to go to a friend, but generally happy there was one of their polishes in my Birchbox this month.

  • When Travelmate Sheet Mask: Sheet masks have been a skincare hype all around the globe for almost a year now, with some Korean brands (like When here) knocking many a beauty blogger's socks off. I really loved the idea behind them, easy to apply - wait for a few minutes - take it off - done! Most days my free time is limited so I was more than happy to give this one a try. It's seeped in fermented coconut juice, which means it didn't just do a great job, it also smelled divine! You can get four of the masks for £25.

  • Rituals T'ai Chi Foaming Shower Gel: Relaxing to smell but fully energising after use, it starts as a clear gel and transforms to foam after contact with water. Reminded me a bit of shaving gel, only it smells ten times better and my skin felt soft and nicely cleansed after. Rituals really know what they're doing, I can see myself purchasing when this sample is gone, 200ml for £8.50 is an amount I'm more than happy to spend.

The lifestyle item that was included in my Birchbox, sorry, Birchbag, was a L. Erickson Grab & Go Ponytail Holder, or an elastic hair band in a dark brown colour. I really don't understand the fuss about it, it's just another hair band with no metal bits, big deal. Good thing the colour is neutral enough to be worn with everything, I'll probably keep it in my bag in case of an emergency.

Seven products and a clutch bag later, I'm still absolutely thrilled with the contents of December's Birchbox, no matter the fact I'll be giving a couple of them away. The picks for the box were successful, there was variety of products and the brand choices were excellent. Was there anything in particular that you liked the most?

Until next time,

Dora
