My Morning Skincare Routine

There have been no few occasions where I've received compliments about not looking my age. Between the good genes I inherited (thanks mum and dad) and my oily complexion, both of which being the main enablers of my youthful appearance, there is one more layer, that of a daily skincare routine. Starting here with my morning facial care, expect two more posts following, my evening facial care along with body care and extras.

Very first thing I do every morning is wash my face with Bodyshop's Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash. It removes the oily residue left on my skin from the night before and cleanses my pores from excess sebum, which makes me feel all refreshed and squeaky clean.

Next comes a toner and I've been loving the Naobay Calming Face Toner for a few good months now. It contains chamomile and gotu kola extracts that help tone and soothe, plus it's 100% of natural origin and the packaging is recyclable as well (the brand doesn't taking environmental issues lightly). I apply it with a cotton pad all over my face and neck.

If you suffer from chapped lips, especially during the winter months, then you know this next step is repeated throughout the day and not just in the morning. I've used many lip products to moisturize but none has performed as excellently as Bodyshop's Wild Argan Oil Solid Oil Lip Balm. It's so rich and leaves my lips smooth for quite a few hours before I feel the need to re-apply. You want the added bonus? It smells amazing and it adds a healthy glow to the lips too!

Cleansing done and finished, it's time to moisturise!

I always start with my eyes, as they are the first areas to show tiredness or signs of age. A pea sized amount of trusted No7 Youthful Eye Serum goes in first, patted lightly with my ring fingers to sink in nicely and stop those wrinkles surfacing, then followed up by Úna Brennan Superfacialist Neroli Firming Illuminate Eye Cream that targets puffiness and helps lift the under-eye area.

For my morning serum I have been trying the Olay Regenerist 3 Point Super Firming Serum for the last two months give or take and I have to admit I'm still of two minds about it. It's easy to apply, has a very pleasing smell and an even more pleasing effect on my skin, but at the same time I don't feel it gets fully absorbed, I can feel a very thin film covering my skin that I have to carefully wipe off. If I don't then my makeup will break later on in the day. Is it the silicone that mixes badly with my oily complexion? I think so. But I definitely vouch for its anti-ageing qualities.

Very rarely I'll skip the serum and go straight in with the No7 Early Defense Day Cream moisturiser, as it does pretty much the same and my skin seems to drink this up in no time (oily skin can still be dehydrated, don't confuse the two), but when I stick to it then I prefer to apply Talika's Photo Hydra Day, a gel like moisturiser that gives me all the hydration I need because of the hyaluronic acid it contains.

The very last thing I'll put on my face right before I go and make myself a cup of coffee is the MONU Spa Rosewood Reviving Mist, which acts both as a refreshing touch and as a setting spray for the makeup I'll be applying later if I'm heading out of the house. I could easily skip this step but I have to admit I'm loving this product's lemon and sandalwood smell, plus I've noticed it helps prolong my makeup's longevity when combined with a primer.

Have you used any of these products? What are your thoughts of them?

Until next time,

Dora
