My Evening Skincare Routine

Morning facial care is really important to protect my skin, especially from all the city gunk and environmental pollution I have to encounter on the days I leave the house, but it's the evening care that makes all the difference. Armed with some really great products, I try to keep it simple and quick since most of the times my energy reserves are pretty low after a day at work.

First thing that needs to come off is my eye makeup. Having sensitive eyes and been through conjunctivitis many times in the past I am only ever so careful with them now. I prefer to use an oil based eye makeup remover because they are capable of breaking down even the most persistent/waterproof formulated mascaras, so for the last few months I've been back and fro between No7 Beautiful Skin Eye MakeUp Remover and Nivea Daily Essentials Double Effect Eye MakeUp Remover. No need for excessive rubbing, I just place a cotton pad over my eyes for a few seconds to give the oil time to work its magic and then I gently wipe the makeup off. Easy peasy.

Rest of the face comes after and I have a micellar water hero that I could rave about for hours and hours. And no, it's not Bioderma. Embryolisse Micellar Lotion is not only gentle to my skin but I can use it over my eyes and lips too, plus the witch-hazel water it contains has performed miracles in calming down my excess oiliness. Another French pharmacy gem, it's now available in Boots, huzzah!

Now that most of my makeup is off I proceed to a proper cleanse and for that there is an iconic product that does the job perfectly. Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser will come to the rescue, stripping all the remaining dirt from my face and making my skin feel soft and fresh.

Time for a toner now and I've fallen in love with La Roche Posay Serozinc Spray ever since I bought it back in August. I just spritz some on my face and let it sink in before moving on to serums and moisturisers. If you have oily skin like me and you haven't tried it yet then what are you waiting for?

I generally use the exact same eye serum and moisturiser I do for my morning skincare routine but swap to anti-aging ones for the rest of my face. I purchased Caudalie Polyphenol C15 Anti-wrinkle Defense Serum at the beginning of October and have been using it religiously ever since. Oil-free, with hyaluronic acid for hydration and 100% anti-oxidant, it seems to have become my skin's best friend. And to top that up I apply some Miracle Sleeping Cream from Garnier and seal everything in. Not to forget my lips, I always keep a tin of Nivea Lip Butter by the bed and make sure to put some on before I go to sleep. I'm loving the Caramel Cream and Vanilla Macadamia these days.

Is there another step in your evening routine or something you do differently? Any products to recommend? I'm waiting to hear from you!

Until next time,

Dora
