Glossybox July 2015

OK, I take back everything I said about my last two Glossyboxes, all the disappointment and all the moaning. I asked them to up the ante or else I would cancel my sub. What did they do? A special edition box inspired by/dedicated to France. For once I'll shut my hole and celebrate a box "magnifique" with them. Vive la France and Hip Hip Hoorah to July's Glossybox!

There's not enough praise I can offer to the piece of art that is this month's actual box. Illustrated by the talented Jamie Lee Reardin, who by the way has also happened to work for the likes of Chanel, Givenchy and Dior (she's one of their resident artists) to name a few, there is no surface left in the box that wasn't covered with one of her beautiful sketches. The lid, the inside of it, the outer bottom of the box, the sides, everything! Inspired by her alternate idea of beauty, with influences such as Tim Burton, Disney and Picasso, she has said:

"I believe it's people's quirks and oddness that make them truly intriguing",

which more than explains her chic but haunted features on the characters she draws.

Moving from the box to its insides, I found myself being introduced to some original French pharmacy brands like Noxidoxi and Teoxane, while being reunited with old friends such as Yves Rocher

  • noxidoxi Enhancing Serum Base: Bordeaux-born brand noxidoxi's serum targets dehydrated skin mostly, promising to offer complete hydration and protection of the skin. Having active antioxidant ingredients, it goes well beneath the surface to the deeper layers of the skin. Absorbs in an instant and smells lightly of baby cream (gotta love that smell), I will be giving this a try since my hayfever symptoms have managed to dehydrate me severely. Full size product (30ml), it retails for £33.46.

  • Lollipops Lip Balm "Delicieuse": I'm all about a great lip balm, as my lips tend to get dehydrated, again due to my hayfever/running nose syndrome. A lip balm that offers me hydration, protection from UV damage and soothing because of the antioxidants and vitamin E it carries is definitely a keeper. As for its name, I can vow for, it definitely smells (and tastes) delicious! Thanks Glossybox! Another full size product, retails for £4.15.

  • Teoxane Cosmeceuticals Perfect Skin Refiner: Its AHA glycolic acid will exfoliate my skin, Neutrazen will help reduce skin inflammation, Allantoin will calm it and Vitamin E will do all the necessary rest to help my oily complexion to look healthier, especially those massive pores of mine. It does tingle just a bit (I'm writing this post after I've just applied it to my face) but I can already feel its soothing effect. Sample I received is 25ml, full size is 50ml and retails for £70!

  • Yves Rocher Comme une Evidence Eau de Parfum: Always happy to be re-acquainted with Yves Rocher (my mum used to buy their skincare range when I was a teen), even when it's a perfume we're talking about. I'm a little picky with smells mainly because I'm odd but also because my skin's natural pH seems not to like floral scents. They tend to evaporate way too fast which is a shame because this lovely perfume's notes are violet, rose, lily of the valley and patchouli. A bit sad I can't use it myself, happy though to pass it along to one of my friends. Full size is 30ml and retails for £24.50, the sample I received is 7,5ml.

  • Glossybox EXCLUSIVE Travel Pouch: The collaboration between Glossybox and illustrator Jamie Lee Reardin expanded further than the actual box to this chic travel pouch, ideal to keep any spillage contained and/or prevented. Waterproof, with a zip lock and the same lovely lady from the box pouting her red lips at me, I can assure you it will packed along and cover lots of miles with me! Je t'aime aussi ma cherié!

Needless to say after a box like this I won't be cancelling my subscription to Glossybox, on the contrary, some long lost faith in it has been won back. Now to think how to re-use this amazing box, I can't just store this artful piece away, can I?

Until next time,

Dora
