My Little Box December 2014

One more day left! Woohoo! With 2015 pacing steadily towards our doorstep, I think it's time I show you the last of the subscription boxes for 2014, My Little Box! You would expect more or less the same scheme with the other two boxes, flashy party colours, reds, greens and the like, right? Au contraire, My Little Box knows how to make a difference even during the holiday season!

As with all previous boxes, all the illustrations are relevant to the theme or the collaborator. This month's box is a collaboration with beauty blogger/vlogger Fleur De Force, who is the one responsible for the some of the amazing goodies included herein, therefore we can assume the girl with the blonde long hair, black top and pink skirt that is decorating the lid is none else but her. But let's take a closer look.

Upon opening the box there is the usual greeting card, this month with a quote from Edna Ferber.

"Christmas is not a season, it's a feeling"

she tells us and I can't agree more. After all I belong to that group of people who will randomly start singing Xmas songs at any time during the year, whenever I feel like it!

And what do we all do during Christmas (personally one of my favourite activities)? We buy presents for our loved ones, which we proceed to wrap and make them look special! That's exactly what this box is all about, with a very shabby-chic girly flair to it!

There are gift tags and masking tape that can be used throughout the year, along with some black and white ribbon rolled around an old fashioned wooden bobbin, such a nostalgic touch!

Of course the cover of the magazine couldn't be anyone else but Fleur, looking all sweet and warm on that fluffy white jumper. Don't worry, she hasn't forgotten about us! In order to keep us warm when we're out and about during those cold festive days she has picked a beautiful knitted headband. The one I received is grey (which I'm more than happy as I already have a black one I knitted myself last Christmas) and has golden threading in it, but it doesn't show up that much on the photos, sorry!

Lovely as the lifestyle items are, I know some of you are here because of your beauty interest, so let me indulge you! The one item in the December Little Box that is part of the Little Beauty range of products is a necessity for all wintery celebrations, while the two other products are there to care for your skin, face and body wise.

  • Cowshed Wild Cow Invigorating Body Lotion: If there is one thing I can't help myself with during the holidays, it's ginger. I add gingerbread syrup in my coffee, I buy gingerbread shortcakes and I burn ginger, apple and cinnamon candles at home. Now I can just spread ginger on me too! Seriously, I want to it this body lotion, it smells that good! It absorbs super fast to the skin, has a velvety feel to it and leaves your skin nice and plump. And although it has ginger for warmth, its lemongrass and rosemary essential oils help provide the kick we all need to start our day! 100ml worth every penny of those £18 it retails for.

  • L'Occitane Créme Précieuse Immortelle: Where do I begin? This is the first time so far My Little Box has included a sample rather than a full size product, but I can definitely understand why. I really like L'Occitane but we all know it's a bit on the pricey side and this facial cream is no exception to the rule. 50ml of pure goodness that hydrate and protect the skin while making it look younger cost £45, so my 15ml sample is being massively appreciated. And you have to love its packaging!

  • My Little Beauty Lipstick in 4284 Red: OK, I have a bone to pick with this product here. Although the colour is really nice (a bright yet warm red with an orange hue) and the pigmentation is satisfactory (it needs to be applied twice to give you a matte opaque finish), I'm really annoyed with the packaging. Don't get me wrong, I really like the way it looks, but using a cardboard packaging that doesn't securely close is not a smart move. Fair enough, it's an environmental one, but again, what good is it when I can't take this lippie anywhere because I'll be constantly stressed it will open in my bag and colour everything? I'm sorry, but for £15 I would buy another brand and remain stress free of any red lipstick massacre!

So this was it! The last post of 2014! I wish you all the best of wishes for the New Year, may it brings smiles and laughter into your lives, happiness, success, love and everything else your hearts desire!
Also I will be away until the 8th of January to spend some precious time with my sister who is visiting me from Greece, celebrate my birthday and take a short trip to London. I will try to post about all that when I'm back.

Until next time,

Dora
