Birchbox November 2014

It hasn't even been ten days since I wrote about October's Birchbox and two days ago I received November's box. I have to give it to them, it's their box I always get first compared to my other subscriptions, which is something I'm really grateful as I don't have to wait too long after the start of each month. But I bet none of you are here to see me taking down that all too known path of that derailing train of thoughts of mine (I wonder how many more "of"s can I squeeze in a sentence). You're here to relax, cozy on down and enjoy, because this month's theme is "Cosy at Home", or as they say "Remember, remember, get cozy for November"!

The first thing I noticed when I opened my Birchbox was the set of cards we're sent every month. I do like cards in general but so far I hadn't loved one set enough to bring it to your attention. This month though is a completely different case, as I absolutely adore each and every one of them! I know, how often does that happen? I can state that now as a fact, those cards will be framed, especially the "Home Sweet Home" one.

Like every other month, my box had five beauty products, two of them full size, and a lifestyle addition.

  • OPI "Turn on the Haute Light" nail polish: Is there any girl or woman out there who doesn't know of OPI and the amazing quality of most of their polishes? I didn't think so! This little beauty belongs to their limited edition Coca-Cola collection and is a shimmery silver that I can see using along with reds and golds during the holidays. Obviously a full size product and of course we all know them polishes retail for £11.95 each.

  • Dr. Jart V7 Turnover Booster: The second full size product of this box is this moisturizing gel serum from Dr. Jart. It contains seven vitamins (V7), is best used after washing/before moisturizer and is fully absorbed, as it turns into a watery form. Dr. Jart is a newly added brand to Birchbox, whose arrival has been welcomed this month with a variety of full size products. I wasn't familiar with the brand but after some research I found out that many beauty bloggers were praising it, so I'm very satisfied I received this. I'll give you a more detailed opinion about it at some point in the future, but so far I like the texture and easy application. Also just this product covered twice the cost of the box, as 50ml retail for £32.

  • Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle: I've received similar products to this one on previous boxes and I can't help but wonder why I keep receiving them when I have made it pretty clear on my questionnaire that I have straight hair that don't need detangling at all. Anyway, I guess I can give the protect part of this leave-in conditioner a try. It doesn't have an offensive smell but I can't see many people liking it either, so all in all I'm not excited with this product. The sample bottle I got doesn't indicate anywhere the ml of the product, but the full size one is 236ml and costs £14.

Best bronzer of life. EVER. I'm in love.
  • Lord & Berry Mini Bronzer in "Sienna": Being always very sceptical with bronzers, as I haven't managed to find one yet that suits my skin tone perfectly and doesn't leave that shimmery trail behind it, I was surprised when this little miracle invaded my life and changed it fundamentally!!! My favourite product of this month from Birchbox, this marvelous bronzer is super fine, perfectly matte and not dark enough to make my cheeks look "muddy". I'm in love. Seriously. Received 2gr sample of pure goodness when the full size is 12gr and retails for £19. I can see myself buying this veeeeeeery soon!

  • Drinkwel Capsules: Multivitamin capsules that help people recover after a night out drinking is a lifestyle extra that is of waste to me, not being a drinker and all, so no opinions on it really, but I do like the whole idea behind it. The sample sent to me was 6 capsules, the full size product has 90 in the bottle and costs £32.99.

  • English Laundry "Signature" perfume for Her: Flowers, flowers and then more flowers! This perfume was inspired by classic English country gardens, so if you're on the lookout for something fresh and floral, this could easily be your pick. Its top notes are those of rose geranium and creamy white flowers, set against a backdrop of musky, woody notes. I really like the scent but personally I prefer to buy this type of perfumes around spring time rather than late autumn/early winter. I reckon the sample I got is about 2ml, its full size is 50ml and costs £60.

All in all I'm quite happy with this month's box. I loved the theme and even though some of the products don't suit my personal needs, they do stay true to the whole theme of getting cozy at home and pamper yourself. I wonder, is there a woman out there who doesn't enjoy a little bit of pampering? Because I know I love it!

Have you not been a subscriber of Birchbox before and by now you're somewhat intrigued/fascinated by the whole idea and the products the box is offering? Then why not subscribe today using my referral link? That way both YOU & ME (win-win situation guaranteed) will receive £5 on our accounts that we can spend in Birchbox's e-shop. Just click here or on any of the Birchbox words and sign up for your account! Fantastic, right?

Before I leave you be, I wanted to mention the #SampleSelfie contest. The whole idea behind it is that you take a selfie showing your favourite sample of the month, post it on Instagram with the tags #sampleselfie #giveaway and @birchboxuk and if you're lucky you may win its full size version. I think this is such a great idea, it keeps the customers further involved, well done Birchbox team! I know I'll be participating myself!

Did you get the same products I did in your Birchbox this month or not? Either way, let me know what you think of the box in total and which one is your favourite product, my box or yours!

Until next time,

Dora
